The Royal Thai Army together with the Sport Flying Association (Thailand), which is an organization supporting Flying Sport Activities, set up the Festival the first "PATTAYA INTERNATIONAL BALLOON FIESTA 2007" to show respect and celebrate the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesty The Kings 80th Birthday on the 5th of December 2007. PIBF2007 was an open air sports activity which is new to Thailand. It is a Grand, colorful and tourist drawing activity and creating an interest in the sport of flying. For the Festival Balloonists from all over the World will be invited to Thailand and join in the Celebrations for this auspicious year, showing the respect and love for The King, providing a good opportunity to promote Thailand to the World. This Balloon Fiesta will attract people from all over Thailand and other countries world wide, whether they are Balloonists or associates, up to those who were made aware by the promotion activities.
In arranging this Balloon Fiesta there will be 27 Hot Air Balloons taking part over 5 days and evenings, which is the largest of its kind in Thailand, with Balloonist from all over whether it be Asia, Europe, or America and it is a Balloon Fiesta with the largest number of Balloons in South East Asia. Also the Vicinity selected Pattaya, is known as a tourist center all over the world, and covers a large and very scenic area. Providing the opportunity for those interested to view Pattaya from high, with a beautiful view of Pattaya Beach, Golf Courses and the Agricultural areas an unusual site.
This activity will create unity among Thais and the International Balloonists. This Festival will be for enjoyment and fun and also support tourism introducing the sport of Ballooning to be more widely known in Thailand and all areas of the globe.
